How to care for satin, velvet, and organza
A short care note for Vediraa scrunchies and bows so the cloth stays smooth and the colour stays even.
Handmade hair accessories last longer when they are not washed like a T-shirt. Vediraa pieces are stitched cloth over elastic. Heat, soaking, and rough drying are what age them.
Satin and satin duo
Spot-clean with a damp cloth and a drop of mild soap. Do not wring. Smooth the cloth flat and let it dry in the shade. A cool iron, on the reverse, with a cotton cloth between the iron and the satin, takes out a crease. Skip the iron if the piece has pearl beads.
Petite Pearl and Signature Satin bows
Keep bows on a flat surface or hung by the clip, not crushed in a pouch with keys. The pearl cluster on Petite Pearl should stay dry. If a bow gets dusty, a dry soft cloth is enough.
Velvet and Crowned in Velvet
Velvet marks if you press it while it is damp. Shake it, then steam it from a distance or hang it in a steamy bathroom. Do not iron the pile directly. Brush the pile gently in one direction with a soft clothes brush once it is dry.
Organza and glimmer
Organza creases easily and glimmer thread can snag on velcro and rough bags. Store these flat. If organza wilts, hang it overnight rather than ironing it hot.
What to avoid
Washing machines, tumble dryers, bleach, and perfume sprayed directly on the cloth. Perfume alcohol can spot satin. Put the accessory on after fragrance has dried.
If a stitch opens, write to vediraaties@gmail.com with a photograph before you trim any thread. Most atelier repairs are a small stitch, not a new piece.
